Allied Vision will unveil its new flagship Alvium camera at VisionChina2020
2020-05-11

A sudden novel coronavirus epidemic, not only affecting the heart of the people of the country, at the same time disrupted the management plan of each enterprise in 2020. With the change of environment, there must be a new direction. We specially invite Mr. Huang Jun Hua, General Manager of VisionChina (Shanghai) 2020 exhibitor -Allied Vision Aigue China and Singapore, to explore new ideas for machine Vision industry professionals from the perspective of enterprise through interactive dialogue.

Jun-hua huang

General Manager, China and Singapore, Allied Vision

Q: The outbreak of Novel Coronavirus at the beginning of 2020 has had a great impact on various industries. How do you see the development trend of machine vision industry in 2020?

In 2020, novel coronavirus epidemic this "black swan", so that the real economy is inevitably affected in the short term. We believe that "black swans" accelerate the elimination and upgrading of related industries. For example, some "online" industries completely transform the "offline" industries, so as to combine the two organically and form a new business model. At the same time, some enterprises will also face structural restructuring, so as to move towards real upgrading. New technologies such as artificial intelligence, big data, 5G and blockchain will accelerate their application to manufacturing, and machine vision is also an important link in the application of these technologies.

Traditional visual application based on PC, generally for decades technology does have greatly improved, but there are also big volume, intelligent defects such as inadequate, with the development of embedded vision and artificial intelligence technology, can make a number of applications has been relatively strong demand guidance, such as defect detection, dimension measurement, manipulator target positioning in a more compact, more intelligent way. Therefore, we believe that after the epidemic, the industry will carry out industrial automation restructuring, improve the operation efficiency of enterprises and even the whole society, and accelerate the pace of industrial technological change will be more obvious, and this is also a new opportunity for the machine vision industry.

Q: We are all very interested in what technologies and products your company will present at VisionChina (Shanghai) 2020. Could you please tell the audience a little about the plot in advance?

The show will focus on Allied Vision's new flagship Alvium camera. The Alvium family of cameras combines the benefits of embedded sensor modules with the high performance of industrial image processing cameras, with many benefits such as extensive image correction and optimization, a large selection of the latest sensors, intelligent power management, cost-effective and compact single board design. It opens up whole new possibilities for embedded system design.

Allied Vision's exclusive Alvium technology helps embedded motherboards perform image preprocessing, reducing the motherboard's bandwidth load so that embedded processors have more bandwidth to handle core algorithm applications. Alvium cameras can be used in highly integrated industrial inspection equipment with high volume and energy requirements, as well as intelligent embedded vision devices of the future. Allied Vision, for example, has partnered with several medical device companies to integrate Alvium cameras into different medical devices, enabling high integration and high quality imaging.

Q: Artificial intelligence and 5G have been hot topics in recent years. Does Allied Vision have any plans for new technologies and applications in this area this year? As an important part of intelligent manufacturing, what new opportunities and challenges do you think the promotion and application of 5G technology will bring to machine vision?

The high bandwidth and low latency in 5G era create very good infrastructure conditions for the wireless deployment of visual processing terminals, but at the same time, it also puts forward higher requirements for the miniaturization, intelligence and low power consumption of visual imaging modules. Allied Vision's new embedded platform, Alvium, has been developed to meet the needs of our customers. It is small in size, low in power, and uses MIPI interfaces to connect smart processing chips/smart computing modules at high speed. It is ideal for the development and deployment of new Vision products in the 5G era.

In addition, besides the high performance of 5G to create more machine vision application scenarios, the 5G industry itself also needs equipment manufacturers in the machine vision industry to produce more sophisticated production and assembly equipment. For example, the high bandwidth requirements of 5G communications require more advanced optical transmission modules. As a typical application of shortwave infrared cameras, Allied Vision Goldeye shortwave infrared cameras have been widely used in production equipment processes for fiber optic communications.

Q: As technology convergence becomes more and more prominent today, which technology convergence do you think is the most important for machine vision? Tell us, what do you think is the future potential development trend and new development direction of machine vision?

The first is the integration of information network technology. Machine vision combined with information network technology to produce new service content, so that the intelligent level of production monitoring has been greatly improved.

Secondly, embedded machine vision technology will be more applied in the field of industrial production, so that the existing industrial automation system solutions are optimized. Machine vision with logic control, motion control, data acquisition, communication network and other functions, can complete the image recognition, detection, visual positioning, object measurement and sorting and other work content. Applying embedded machine vision technology to industrial robot control system to realize accurate recognition and grasp will greatly improve the flexibility and flexibility of the production process. In the era of big data, by collecting a lot of machine vision data, combined with deep learning and artificial intelligence algorithms, more accurate and faster application of vision industry can be obtained.
In terms of trend, in addition to the traditional machine vision mentioned above to embedded vision, the application of multi-ocular vision is also developing rapidly. In particular, 3D vision detection can improve the traditional planar vision application to three-dimensional space. In addition, visible light, infrared and LIDAR multi-sensor fusion cameras are increasingly used to enhance object detection and improve object classification. Combined with deep learning and artificial intelligence algorithms, these new machine vision technologies offer unlimited possibilities for the future of the vision industry.

Transboundary Connection of Machine Vision to Embedded Vision

Allied Vision released six new models this year: three USB 3 cameras and three MIPI CSI-2 cameras. In addition to expanding the existing Alvium camera line, the new model has the following features:

● For the first time, it is equipped with a powerful Sony IMX sensor

● The 1800 series now offers MIPI CSI-2 interface

● A new firmware update for the Alvium family

Allied Vision's Alvium range of new cameras will be available at VisionChina (Shanghai) 2020.

VisionChina (Shanghai) 2020 will be held in National Convention and Exhibition Center (Shanghai) on July 3-5, 2020.
