Baumer introduces the industrial-grade AX Smart Camera, which integrates the market-leading NVIDIA Jetson module and a powerful Sony CMOS sensor to provide a compact, flexible image processing platform with freely settable parameters for AI applications. Using the AX Smart Camera to process images eliminates the need for a separate computer connection, saving installation space and system costs, and simplifying system design and integration. This is particularly beneficial for applications in the field of quality inspection and process monitoring, which require processing large amounts of data in a very short time for edge computing. Thanks to the NVIDIA Jetson Nano or Xavier NX modules with special AI cores and graphics processors, the AI system can be operated flexibly without any limitations.

Equipped with the latest Sony CMOS sensors with a resolution of 3.2 or 5 megapixels and a frame rate of up to 77 fps, the AX Smart Camera is able to detect fast machining processes with high sensitivity, excellent image quality and low noise. With the Linux system, the camera supports any programming language to meet different application requirements and has the flexibility to call various image processing libraries and application programming interfaces (APIs). The camera is also compatible with GenICam as well as the M12 Ethernet and RS232 interfaces, ensuring simple, reliable and efficient system integration. Functions such as FPGA-based auto exposure and auto white balance automatically provide excellent image quality for specific applications, ensuring that all computational power is available for image processing algorithms. The camera is equipped with 4 opto-coupler outputs with up to 120W output power (up to 48V/2.5A), making it cost-effective to control the light source directly without an external controller.
