On June 25, 2009, Point Grey added a new addition to its Firefly MV line: the FMVU-13S2C, a 1.3 megapixel (1328 × 1048 @ 23FPS) color camera.

FMVU-13S2C is based on color 1/3 inch Sony® IMX035 CMOS. This is a new industrial CMOS launched by Sony in May this year, with a resolution of 1328 × 1048. It adopts Exmor CMOS technology patented by Sony and rolling shutter, and has the characteristics of high SNR, high color fidelity and no smear.

The FMVU-13S2C is equipped with a CS-mount lens, removable IR Cut Filter, and can be triggered or light source external to the 7-pin I/O connector. With a USB 2.0 digital interface, the camera is compact (44 × 24 × 34 mm, plastic case) and inexpensive, making it an ideal choice for applications in microscopy, bioscience, medicine and visualization.
